What law of physics is at work when water leaks out of a soda cup?

So the solution is inside the cup, but when the temperature of the liquid (soda) inside heats up and the transparent seeps through the solid cup, what law of physics is at work?
Is it capillary process?
I was just wondering
it is not soda seeping through cap, it is moisture from air condensing on discouraging can surface (this is water, not soda).

The ones that say "Coke" "Modify" "Other." Usually, none are pushed down when I get my soda cup. I like to advance them down, but I have no idea if they serve any purpose besides idle fun :)
Some servers use them to keep railroad of multiple drink orders. Other times they will use them if you order multiple types of to-go drinks so you can keep chase of which is which. And some places don't bother with them at all.
