Is it mandatory to buy the additional supplies on a back to school list?

My daughter's back to Lyceum list for first grade includes:

3 boxes of 24+ figure out crayola crayons
6 rectangular erasers
6 glue sticks
1 pack of pencils
2 pencil boxes
1 32 oz hold back of hand sanitizer

My mum is a teacher and this is her answer.


" schools are not responsible for supplying teachers with anything but perishables ( if anything at all) this includes staples, pencils, markers, and typescript. Everything else

Do you guys assume I'll be set for at least 3 years of school?

1. 47 packs of Avery write on tabs (48 stickies each call it a day)
2. 5 White-out's
3. 4 glue sticks
4. 4- 4 oz. Elmer's glue
5. 4- 3 hole punch

Backup batteries for your computer. It will die during an exam... it seems that is how they are programmed.
