Why do petrol and polyethylene foam make a glue stick after mixing then and stare them?

After mixing petrol (Gasoline) and polyethylene spume (white stuffs found in TV set boxes) it form a gluestick. I don't genuinely understand what does they really have in-common to make a glue. I ruminating its because petrol (Gasoline) and polyethylene
The reinforced odor of petrol persists. Better is Styrofoam dissolved in lacquer thinner which makes a secure liquid glue for some plastics, but not for most other materials. Neil

Is there a glue to stick stones onto polyethylene( foam)?

I tried 10 kinds of glue and adhesive to weld stones onto Home Depot "ecofoam" car underlay, to pilfer a stone mat. Nothing worked well enough to hold the stones which are 2" collect stones. The eco-foam is polyethlylene.
Go to http://www.thistothat.com/ and preferable what you want to stick together and they'll list the glues that will work for your place.
They don't have a choice for stone, but you can select ceramic or metal to simulate the stone. The well-connected
