What's the point on grading kids on a number scale rather than a letter scale?

Isn't getting a 4 still like getting and A and a 1 is like getting an F?
Fitting found out my kid's school does the number grading all the way through elementary before switching to letters in mean school.
IDK what the argument is.....my daughters school uses numbers in K-2. 3-12 is letters. It took me awhile to personage out the number system, and I have to admit, it is kind of crooked to understand, but, hey.....as elongated as she is being passed
